International Reception provides an opportunity for graduate students to network and connect.

This past August the Belk College of Business had the pleasure of welcoming incoming graduate students from our international partner schools. The annual International Reception is an event held for graduate students that are obtaining a dual master’s degree from both UNC Charlotte and their home institutions. This year we welcomed students from Copenhagen Business School, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.

The Belk College of Business is proud of its relationships with the following universities that support the global learning experience:

  • Copenhagen Business School in Denmark: The Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte and the Copenhagen Business School collaborate on an exciting double master’s degree program in economics. Graduates of the program receive both an M.S. in Economics with an Economics/Finance concentration from UNC Charlotte and an MSc in Economics and Business Administration, specializing in Applied Economics and Finance from Copenhagen Business School. Students spend one academic year in each location.

  • Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) in China:  The partnership between UNC Charlotte and the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics enables students to study for one year at UNC Charlotte and two years at SUFE. These students earn both an M.S. in Mathematical Finance from UNC Charlotte and a master’s degree in International Business from SUFE. Students gain strong quantitative skills in mathematics and in-depth knowledge of financial instruments and markets, and gain a solid understanding of finance, monetary economics and banking regulation.

  • Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) in Milan, Italy: Mathematical Finance students earn two degrees on two continents with UNC Charlotte and the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. Students study for one year at each university and earn both an M.S. in Mathematical Finance with a Risk Management concentration from UNC Charlotte and a Laurea Magistrale (LM) in Banking and Finance from UCSC.

At the reception, Belk College of Business Dean, Steve Ott was able to provide the students with a warm welcome to UNC Charlotte. In his welcoming remarks, he stated, “The Belk College of Business is honored to have been selected as your temporary home.” As a leading urban research business school, with international partnership at the forefront, the Belk College faculty and staff are proud to welcome such a diverse group of graduate student learners.

The Belk College of Business values global citizenship and has immense respect for our partner universities. As well as our city, with Charlotte having an international business environment and being ranked one of the “Best Places for Business & Careers” by Forbes magazine. Dean Ott was also able to appreciate the students in stating, “We thank you for helping us grow our relationship and sharing successful advancements”, as UNC Charlotte is the fastest-growing UNC System university.
